Today's experiment is to determine if we can cook a thick juicy ribeye steak with a wood fired pizza oven. Seasoning is kept simple with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Fire up your wood pizza oven and let it get to temperature. When ready insert the steak and keep an eye on it or it will quickly burn. Rotate and flip often to control the sear until the steak reaches your desired internal temperature, in our case 135 °F.
Not to bad for the first time. The steak had a marvelous sear and temperature. The edges were slightly darker then we would prefer, however, understanding the heat source and its proximity to the steak makes it totally understandable. As for the flavor, it's out of this world! It has that wooden smokey goodness that only a wood fire oven can create. If you enjoy that smell and flavor then this is the way.
